Resource Planning & Generation, IIT Kanpur
As Dean, Resource Planning & Generation at IIT Kanpur during 2005-08 IIT Kanpur was responsible for alumni affairs, fund raising, and international relations. During this tenure, the number of alumni donors doubled every year, and donations of ~Rs 27 crores (~Rs 14 crores in cash and ~Rs 13 crores in commitments) were mobilized. About 30 faculty chairs and 65 undergraduate scholarships were instituted during this period.
Created several very successful programmes, such as:
- Summer Undergraduate Research Grants for Excellence (SURGE)
- Major collaborations between IITK and some top universities in the world
- International travel support to students for participation in conferences
- Cash incentive to students for journal publications
- International travel support to new faculty members
- Travel support for international visiting faculty to IITK
- Opportunity College: to improve employability of under-privileged youth in the neighbourhood of IITK
